Description
What you’ll learn.
- Know what asbestos is, where it was used, and the health risks
- Recognise where asbestos may be found in buildings, especially older ones
- Understand what to do if you suspect asbestos, and why not to disturb it
- Know the legal duties, including the duty to manage asbestos
The legal position.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 require employers to make sure that anyone who could disturb asbestos receives suitable information, instruction and training.
The Regulations also set out the duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic premises.
Asbestos awareness is not training to work with or remove asbestos. That needs specialist training and, in many cases, a licence.
