The legal position.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 require employers to avoid hazardous manual handling so far as is reasonably practicable. Where it cannot be avoided, they must assess the risk and reduce it.
Employees must follow safe systems of work and use equipment as they have been shown.
This course teaches the principles. For physically demanding or specialist tasks, practical, task-specific training on site is usually advisable as well.
