Description
What you’ll learn.
- Understand what counts as a confined space and why it is dangerous
- Recognise common hazards such as lack of oxygen, toxic gas and fire
- Know the principles of a safe system of work, including permits to work
- Understand emergency arrangements, and why rescues should never be improvised
The legal position.
The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 require employers to avoid entry into confined spaces where it is reasonably practicable to do so.
Where entry cannot be avoided, a safe system of work and suitable emergency arrangements must be in place.
This is awareness training. It does not authorise anyone to enter a confined space, which needs task-specific training, equipment and a permit where required.
Common questions.
Does this qualify me to enter confined spaces?
No. It builds awareness of the risks. Anyone who will enter needs training for the specific task and equipment. Ask us if you need advice on that.
Do learners get a certificate?
Yes. After passing the test, each learner gets a printable certificate showing the course and the date.
Can I train a whole team?
Yes. Tell us how many people and when, and we will confirm the arrangements and price.
